This Weekend is for Sibyls Members

The theme of the weekend, which is led by Carol Nixon, will seek to centre our thoughts on the concept of 'proportion', which links our place as Trans-people in wider society together with the place of humans in the ecosystem. The opportunity to join with the Friary community in some of their worship, and the simple matter of talking and sharing with each other will take a lot of the time. We also have the use of the chapel for our own communion service from 11 to 12 on the Sunday.

The weekend will resurrect the idea of the Saturday night cabaret/ceilidh/noson lawen, in which we each, according to our inclination, offer a poem, a song, a sketch, music, performance, a joke, a story, a reading etc. It's not meant to be a punishment, and if anyone is genuinely terrified, just let it pass by, but the sense of community generated by laughing and sighing together brings most people out of the shell of reserve which our upbringing has tended to encourage.

Self-entertainment in the old way has amazing effects.
